Welcome to phase 4
This fourth exercise is quite a bit more technical, as the cavalettis come up really quickly. My advice is for you to only start doing this exercise once you are really comfortable with phase three. However, once you are doing this exercise well, you will find that you would have taken your showjumping accuracy to another level.
What to remember when riding this exercise:
• Look early, and stay on the best line to the next cavaletti, it’s easy to overshoot the turn
.• Don’t overuse your inside hand, use more outside hand and leg.
• Try to keep a nice smooth rhythm around the circle.
• Count your strides, it makes it slightly easier.
• Did I mention look early.
Struggling?
• Make the circle bigger. This will give you more time between cavalettis.
• You may need to go back to two cavalettis for a while.
• You may need to do more work on your canter, focus a little more on phase 1.
