Showjumping Accuracy Phase 1

WELCOME!!!
This is the first phase of a five-phase showjumping accuracy course, focusing on flatwork exercises. It’s the foundation of accurate showjumping and the first step towards becoming a more accurate showjumper. Although it’s not particularly difficult, it’s a crucial piece of the puzzle that you need to master before moving forward. Horses pick it up quickly, but it’s a skill you’ll need throughout your career, so you need to get comfortable training it.

This video will demonstrate how to improve your horse’s adjustability. It is the first step that needs to be taken and you should really be doing this well before moving on to the next steps

Rome was not built in a day
If you are struggling, just stay with the normal working canter, and get the collected canter. So in other words, go from working canter to collected canter, and then back to working canter.
Just as long as you’re getting some variation in the canter stride. You can increase the variation with time. This is a process and does take time to get to where you can get a big extended canter, and then back to a collected canter. You really need to get these flatwork exercises for show jumpers as good as you can get them. They will really serve you well and make seeing a good distance much easier.
